Intermediate Actuarial Specialist

The team is responsible for product management and performance.
Provide support to various functions measuring and/or enhancing product performance as well as supporting projects.
The role offers a great opportunity to learn and gain experience in all aspects of the insurance environment – engaging with other actuarial and product teams and the wider business.
Product development and implementation, including system testing.
Documentation, including product specifications.
Ensuring client correspondence and marketing material are consistent with product rules.
Supporting the proposition management function with technical actuarial work.
Building and maintaining actuarial models.
Producing management information.
Assessing and recommending decisive action relating to customer value for money.
Automating of processes and reports using programming/coding techniques.
Investigations related to product rules, business optimisation and feasibility studies, including product strategy.
Product reviews.
Requirements:
Actuarial student with minimum of 9 actuarial credits.
At least 2 years work experience in a product development environment.
Experience and knowledge of actuarial models used to support the above-mentioned products.
Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team and across teams.
Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to plan and prioritise.
Motivated self-starter who shows initiative, is proactive and looks for ways to improve existing processes.
Able to complete tasks within agreed timelines with limited guidance.
High levels of drive, energy and innovation. Willing to learn and grow.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access).
Programming knowledge advantageous.

Intermediate Actuarial Specialist
Positions in Sandton, Gauteng and Cape Town
Develop the actuarial analysis & reporting capability, pricing large group arrangements, and recommending product and basis enhancements with a strong focus on maintaining GAP’s excellence in product development and product management.
Interact with intermediaries and internal stakeholders at all levels, the core responsibilities include:
Pricing of group risk arrangements
Assist with the development of pricing bases for group risk products
Maintenance of reinsurance arrangements
Developing, maintaining and enhancement of Risk products and policy terms
Maintaining and coordinating updates to website and collateral material; and to accreditation guides and training material (relating to group risk products)
Provide technical oversight and support, for group risk products in particular, to marketing, proposition, finance and servicing areas
Performing mortality and morbidity experience investigations /monitors
Analyse valuation data and results of group risk products to gain a deeper understanding and insight into business results and emerging trends
Automation of models and business processes
Development and maintenance of tools to analyse actuarial data in order to enhance management reporting
Actuarial student with a minimum of 9 credits
At least 2 years actuarial experience
Strong analytical and technical skills
Good communication skills and have the ability to interact effectively with
Highly motivated and energetic self-starter who is good at working with complex tasks under tight deadlines
Experience in the Group Risk or Employee Benefits industry, including Group Risk
