SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

  • Execute daily tasks and work instructions according to relevant Procedures and instruction from the Assistant Group Financial Manager
  • Performing risk assessments on key business activities and using this information to guide what to cover in audits
  • Anticipate emerging issues through research and interviews and decide how best to deal with them
  • Research and assess how well risk management processes are working and record the results using software such as Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Assess how well businesses are complying to rules and regulations and inform management whether any issues need addressing
  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards
  • Plan internal audits according to Quarterly Plan and as and when required by management
  • Attend meetings with relevant stakeholders at the various entities, to develop an understanding of business processes
  • Travel to various sites to meet with relevant stakeholders and to obtain documents and information
  • Obtain, analyse and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts, etc
  • Assess audit control environments by interviewing, challenging and verifying information obtained
  • Write reports on findings after conducting internal audits, making recommendations, agreeing upon actions and submitting these reports to the relevant stakeholders
  • To undertake unplanned audits as required, eg. Special investigations.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and request feedback when findings are actioned
  • Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions
  • Provide management with feedback by submitting quarterly reports on findings that are closed out
  • Be involved in stock counts to ensure that they are conducted properly and assist with resolving queries / variances where applicable
  • Provide ad hoc advice and guidance to managers and staff at all levels, sometimes by delivering training sessions, to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement

Minimum requirements:

  • Matric or equivalent
  • Accounting / finance diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced computer skills
  • CIA certificate (or working towards obtaining)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ commercial experience
