Java Developer

SUMMARY:
The department requires the individual to actively drive quality improvement and taking ownership of tasks which have been assigned. A key attribute in this role is to take personal responsibility for delivery. The role requires the ability to learn the new environment quickly which will allow the individual to start delivering to business.

POSITION INFO:

Job Description

• Develop new and maintain applications, backend services, web services and SQL related development.
• Follow Procedures, processes and admin tasks as defined by the IS department.
• Assist in technical design of applications/solutions and integrations to ensure business requirements are properly satisfied.
• Analyse database schemas, data models, and data integration requirements.
• Interpret documented business requirements, assist in evaluating technical alternatives and develop appropriate solutions.
• Help estimate the level of effort and time required for development activities.
• Assist with the development of test cases and scripts as needed and to analyse the results.
• Assist with troubleshooting and providing recommendations for remediation.
• Assist team members with technical development and system architecture advise
• Assist with code review
• Assist with technical advice to management
• Will be required to perform testing of functionality prior to release.

Job Skills

• An excellent working understanding of the Java (Java-EE) programming language and syntax
• Experience with Java IDEs such as Eclipse, Netbeans and/or IntelliJ.
• Experience in  HTML / HTML5 / PHP / JSP / JavaScript
• Practical experience with any of following databases: MySql, MS SQL, Oracle.
• Minimum 5 year working experience in JAVA
• Minimum 5 years working experience HTML, JQuery, CSS
• Exposure to OO (Object Oriented development practices)  
• Experienced in Solution Architecture/Design skills
• Use Case Modelling and Solution Documentation

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 Senior certificate (Matric)
• A Tertiary Technical Qualification such as a BSc or equivalent or a Bachelor''s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a recognized IT Diploma.
• Must be Java Certified
