Junior Accountant / Office Assistant

SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for Junior Account /  Office Assistant to join their team in Rustenburg

POSITION INFO:
Qualification:

• National Diploma or B.Comm Accounting (advantageous)

• 2+ years in similar hybrid role
• Must have Quickbooks

1. Accounting & Bookkeeping (QuickBooks)

• Proficient in QuickBooks Online/Desktop
• Full monthly processing: journals, bank recons, supplier/customer recons
• Posting and categorizing invoices, receipts, debit orders, and expenses
• Month-end closing procedures
• Maintaining asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Basic trial balance and management account preparation
• Understanding of COA (chart of accounts) structuring

2. Payroll (SimplePay)

• Working knowledge of SimplePay
• Monthly processing of salaries, including allowances and deductions
• Understanding of UIF, PAYE, SDL
• Issuing payslips, EMP201 submissions
• Annual EMP501 and IRP5 generation
• Handling staff leave tracking and statutory compliance

3. VAT & Compliance

• Preparing and reconciling VAT201 submissions
• Knowledge of zero-rated, standard, and exempt supplies
• Managing SARS eFiling platform: VAT, PAYE, EMP submissions
• Staying ahead of regulatory changes (SARS notices, UIF changes, etc.)
• Accurate documentation and filing for audit-readiness

4. General Office Support

• Strong document control and digital filing
• Coordinating supplier payments and capturing proof
• Support for client onboarding admin: FICA, mandates, contracts
• Booking meetings, diary management for management/advisers
• Liaising with external service providers (e.g., SARS, auditors, IT)
• General PA duties to partners if/when needed

5. Soft Skills & Tools

• Strong Excel proficiency (recons, lookups, pivots)
• Fluent in English & Afrikaans (written and verbal)
• Time management and the ability to multitask across admin & finance
• Integrity, discretion with sensitive financial data
• Familiarity with Office 365, OneDrive, and My Practice (advantageous)
