Job Description

Madhlopa & Thenga Inc is a well-established legal practice seeking a Junior Attorney to join its Litigation Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing litigation matters, drafting legal documents, and appearing in court where required. This role suits a driven attorney capable of managing files with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Managing litigation matters from inception to finalization
Drafting pleadings, notices, affidavits, and legal correspondence
Defending and litigating matters, including bank-related litigation
Attending court appearances and consultations with clients and counsel
Liaising with opposing attorneys, advocates, and stakeholders
Maintaining accurate file management and meeting deadlines

Minimum Requirements

Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
1–3 years’ post-admission experience in litigation
Proven experience litigating or defending matters
Strong preference for candidates with experience defending matters involving Standard Bank
Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Based in or able to commute to Parktown North, Johannesburg
