JUNIOR DBA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Opening for a Junior DBA to join an IT team in Century City, Cape Town, South Africa.

Looking for an energetic candidate that will primarily focus on dealing with operational data and transaction related queries.

The successful candidate will be required to work closely with a senior data analyst, key account managers, accounts departments, data recipients and the tech support team.

Key Areas of Responsibility

- Monitor and maintain all data transmission services / scripts

- Configure and manage server FTP data folders

- Compile ad hoc reports

- Perform data analysis

- Perform data capturing

- Provide invoice breakdowns

- Perform recons

- Perform pricing setups

Required Skills

- Matric / Grade 12

- Experience working as a data administrator

- Good references (will be checked)

- Proficient in relational databases (MySQL or any other DB)

- Moderate database query skills

- PHP scripting advantageous

- Linux proficiency advantageous

- Accounting advantageous

- Good documentation skills

- Touch typing

Preferred Attributes

- National Diploma in IT related field or equivalent NQF 5/6 qualification.

- Take responsibility for deliverables

- Strong ethics

- Willing to learn

- Good communication skills

- Be professional / well spoken

- English and Afrikaans and a third language if possible

- Attention to detail

- Own transport (must be able to commute to work) within working hours
