Our client based on the KZN North Coast is currently looking for an experienced Junior Financial Controller

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position: Junior Financial Controller

Location: North Coast, Kwa-Zulu Natal

Direct Report: Financial Control Manager

Job Summary:

Providing financial support on a daily basis to the relevant Business unit/s. This will include project costing review, cash flow and monthly reporting both on project level as well as corporate reporting for business unit/s. Presentation of monthly financial results to relevant Business Unit Manager/s.
Take the lead with regards to financial control of the Business unit.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Degree or Diploma/ B. Tech Cost Accounting or Management Accounting essential
  • 2-3 years experience preferably within a Project Accounting Environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Finance, Accounting, Budgeting, Cash Flow and Cost Control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of ERP Finance Systems with automated financial and accounting reporting system.
  • Ability to train users on the system reporting applications. Preferably SAGE CRM.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.

Computer Skills Required:
  • Excel/Google Sheets – Advanced level

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Review of the business unit/s various waste revenues and clients to ensure cash flow and profitability forecasts are in line with the projected budget
  • Consult with operational team and business unit manager;
  • Review the General Ledger reporting and processing of P&L items; ensure correct allocation according to the company reporting requirements
  • Monthly consolidation and related reporting
  • Monthly reporting as well as corporate reporting of the business unit/s completed in the stipulated timeline and with due care and competence
  • Assist Business unit/s management by taking accountability for monthly closing, annual budget and quarterly forecasts based on projects / contract status
  • Track new business and backlog forecast for remainder of year/s and report monthly via a rolling forecast
  • Tracking and reporting on Capital Expenditure approvals and commitments vs budgets and forecasts
  • Maintaining and monitoring a risk schedule for the business unit related to any provisions or other balance sheet items
  • Assist with General Ledger cost codes and opening of new job numbers in the system
  • Bookings updating and follow up
  • Analyze financial information needs by reviewing existing systems and working out the best way to meet those needs with the reporting system; (optimisation of the structure)
  • Preparation of dynamic business and/or financial models related to revenue and costing
  • Conduct special investigations and feasibility studies on various projects in the stipulated timeline
  • Identifying the opportunities and risks for the Business Unit resulting in proposals being presented with supporting evidence and recommendations and any other useful information
  • Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy
  • Proactive approach and accountable in taking control of the Business unit financial controlling & reporting
  • Assist the operational team with the cost/revenue analysis.
  • Work in conjunction with the finance manager on a daily basis to ensure accurate reporting numbers are presented
  • Check and report quarterly stock take and assistance with day to day stock control
  • Manage all aspects of the business unit/s P&L, investigate balance sheet, interrogate figures to ensure accurate reporting
  • Ensure all financial policies are adhered to
  • Improve efficiencies and reducing costs across the business
  • Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations
