SUMMARY:
A well-established manufacturer of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and specialised process equipment is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically driven graduate or junior engineer to gain hands-on experience in a highly specialised engineering environment.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

Support the design and engineering team in the development of pressure vessels and related mechanical components.
Assist in preparing detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications, and material take-offs.
Perform mechanical design calculations in compliance with ASME and other relevant codes.
Liaise with the workshop and quality teams to ensure smooth execution of designs.
Participate in internal reviews, inspections, and client meetings when required.
Assist with documentation and project coordination tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

BEng or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
0–2 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Strong theoretical knowledge of mechanical design and materials.
Eagerness to learn and apply engineering standards and codes of practice.

Advantageous:

Exposure to pressure equipment, boiler codes, or piping systems.
Knowledge of ASME, PD5500, or similar design codes.
Experience in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
