Junior Pre-Sales Engineer, Pretoria
POSITION INFO:
Our client in the Telecommunication Industry (Digital Broadcasting Systems) is currently looking for a Junior Pre-Sales Engineer to join their team based in Pretoria East.
Overview:
Responsible for supporting the sales infrastructure, ensuring that the clients’ reasonable requests are attended to timeously, enhancing the quality of the system designs, descriptions and bill of equipment with suppliers for the Digital Broadcast Systems (Satellite, Cable, Terrestrial, OTT and IPTV systems).
The Junior Pre-sales engineer will work in the Pre-sales division and will support the sales team in designing network connectivity solutions, proposals and tender responses for current and potential customers. The role demands the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Electronic Engineering (completed or in 3rd year)
- Familiarity with digital broadcasting systems, including digital terrestrial television, digital modulation, and signal processing
- Excellent knowledge of:
- IT systems
- IP switch configuration
- Networking
- Windows Server configuration
- SQL databases
- IP multicast/unicast
- Experience with IP connectivity networks
- Knowledge of MPEG2/4/HEVC encoding and multiplexing
- Understanding of DVB specifications and standards
- Advanced skills in IP routing, switching, and troubleshooting
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects
- Willingness to work after hours to meet tender deadlines
Responsibilities: - Engage with clients and sales to define customer requirements for telecommunications or digital broadcasting systems
- Draft proposed solutions in schematic form based on client needs
- Prepare system descriptions and technical compliance documents
- Estimate bill of materials in coordination with suppliers and internal staff
- Act as a liaison between sales and operations to ensure smooth project implementation
- Monitor installation, construction, and operational progress by working closely with the operations manager
- Conduct site visits and provide feedback to customers
- Follow up on issues and assist in problem resolution
- Keep sales informed on solution updates and new technologies from suppliers
- Continuously research and evaluate new technologies to improve solutions
- Present technical solutions and justifications to customers
- Participate in supplier webinars to stay updated on industry advancements
Remuneration:
Negotiable depending on experience
