Junior RF engineer

A defence company in Cape Town is seeking a junior RF engineer.

POSITION INFO:
A forward-thinking technology company specializing in [e.g., wireless communications, aerospace systems, IoT devices]. We're expanding our engineering team and looking for a motivated Junior RF Engineer to support the design, development, and testing of high-performance RF systems.

Role Overview:
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in RF circuit design, testing, and system integration. Working closely with experienced engineers, you’ll help develop innovative RF products and gain exposure to the full development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and simulation of RF circuits, filters, and matching networks
• Support prototyping, lab testing, and validation of RF components and systems
• Conduct measurements using equipment such as spectrum analyzers, VNAs, and signal generators
• Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and design notes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineering
• Participate in troubleshooting and tuning activities during development and production

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
• Basic understanding of RF theory and wireless communication principles
• Familiarity with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzer, VNA)
• Some experience with RF simulation tools (e.g., ADS, CST, HFSS, or similar)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
