Junior Accountant

POSITION INFO:

Alpha is seeking experienced Bookkeepers to join their dynamic team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Minimum Experience & Knowledge Required:
• Good understanding of basic financial management principles
• Sound knowledge of tax legislation
• Familiarity with change management principles
• Experience with QuickBooks, Zahara or Xero (advantageous)
• 2-3 years’ experience working within Finance
• Reliable 10MB uncapped Fibre or ADSL broadband connection
• Availability to work UK business hours

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate accounting records for UK-based companies using QuickBooks, Zahara or Xero
• Producing precise financial reports on a monthly basis
• Ensuring supplier and customer accounts are accurate and that credit terms are adhered to
• Reporting regularly to the Manager on discrepancies, with recommendations for resolution
• Monitoring cash expenditure in line with budgets and available cash flow
• Reconciling bank statements daily to ensure accuracy
• Ensuring compliance with tax and other relevant legislation
• Reconciling loan accounts and supplier/customer accounts to the trial balance
• Preparing, maintaining and monitoring general accounts
• Submitting VAT, EMP and other tax returns promptly and accurately
• Processing payroll, accruals and prepaid journal entries
• Assisting with audit queries as required
• Supporting corporate governance through general administration and ad hoc tasks

Educational Requirements

• Diploma in Accounting (essential)
• BCom in Accounting (advantageous)
