Operating Centre: Voermol Feeds Department: Laboratory Reports To: Technical Manager Job Grade: CU Closing Date: 11 August 2026 Key Responsibilities Collaborate with Technical Managers to prioritise work, establish procedures and applications, contribute to activity programming, and provide information regarding deviations, challenges, and constraints. Implement procedures and guidelines aligned with ISO and safety standards for sampling, testing, reporting, and communicating laboratory results and findings. Conduct audits of work procedures using planned job observation methods to ensure conformance with established standards. Contribute to the recruitment process by advising on advertisements for new or vacant positions, participating in interviews, and recommending suitable candidates. Monitor adherence to quality standards through continuous checks on processes related to the analysis of raw materials and production samples. Oversee the calibration schedule, verifying the accuracy of calibrated instruments and ensuring compliance. Log and track incoming claims and special samples requiring investigation or analysis. Manage the preparation and despatch of samples for external analysis according to the established schedule. Support product development research by executing analytical tasks including sampling, mixing, and testing of trial products. Apply wet chemistry methods to perform specialised analyses on special and claim samples. Assist the Production and Product Movement Controller with troubleshooting and resolving quality-related issues within the SAP system. Provide problem-solving support for Laboratory Technicians during analyses and tests. Participate actively in meetings such as SHEQ, Quality Review, and Departmental meetings, contributing to discussions and presenting or explaining report content. Respond promptly to queries or requests for information regarding specific tests, procedures, and regulations. Manage the day-to-day operations of laboratory staff and activities. Oversee stock levels and manage laboratory orders efficiently. Track and manage the laboratory budget responsibly. Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes National Diploma or Degree in Natural Sciences. Minimum of five years' supervisory experience within an analytical chemistry laboratory environment. Proficient computer skills and literacy. Valid Code EB Driver's Licence. Demonstrates high ethical standards and professional maturity. Strong team player with a confident, assertive personality. Proactive with the ability to take initiative. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Outstanding communication skills, able to articulate views clearly and provide thorough explanations.
