JOB SUMMARY:
A vacancy has arisen with our client in the manufacturing sector for a Laboratory Manager, based at their operations in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties:

Management of projects and new product development.
Manage the team activities to achieve overall business goals.
Develop strategies to improve dwell time and ensure first time right targets are achieved.
Assist production with product challenges and resolve as quickly as possible.
Maintain and improve customer response time and provide regular feedback to update technicians online on progress of investigations.
Support QC and colouristics when required to do so.
Control budget and departmental expenditure to meet company objectives.
Coaching, training and development of the team.
Attend to all non-conformances within the agreed closure time, identifying root cause, corrective and preventative actions.
Align with best practice initiatives, including Variable Margin Improvement.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in chemical related subjects or equivalent
Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive paint environment in a leadership role
Strong understanding of paint technology and manufacturing
Good knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as 8D, 5S, Kaizen, 20 Keys
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement improvement projects, and produce concrete savings
Must have valid drivers’ license and own vehicle
