Laboratory Technician

POSITION INFO:
Job Purpose:

• To conduct wet and dry tests in accordance with quality standards and customer specific requirements.
• To assist with the development of new formulations.

• Matric.
• National Diploma or N6 in Analytical Chemistry.
• Applicable Certification.
• Minimum 3 years’ exposure in an Automotive manufacturing environment in the Testing Laboratory.

• Obtain test samples and perform product quality testing (relevant to automotive test standards).
• Reporting:
  • Report measurement results as per customer requirements daily.
  • Write a Technical Report.
  • Liaise and control testing for other plants and external customers.
• Wet Testing and Development:
  • Verify the sample formulation by means of a standard beaker mix test.
  • Assist Technical Development of new products, formulations and testing.
• Auditing:
  • Support product audits.
  • Compile & adhere to annual layout inspection schedule.
  • Compile layout inspection reports and provide evidence.
  • Conduct dock audits on products and report accordingly.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects on production processes.
• General Management:
  • Store Master and Reference samples.
  • Ensure:
    • checking aids (CF's, Matrices, etc) are clearly marked, registered, safely stored
    • equipment is calibrated and properly maintained
    • Lab is Temp & Humidity Controlled and Track accordingly
    • proper filing/record keeping as per customer requirement.
  • Support Annual Capex budgeting.
• Quality Management Systems:
  • Comply with the requirements of the Divisional Quality Management System and Technical Development Quality Systems.
  • Highlight quality non-conformances and notify the responsible person.
  • Participate in Quality investigations.
  • Ensure all relevant PPAP testing is completed, and documentation is prepared on time.
• Further Analysis:
  • Conduct:
    • Capability Studies
    • Measurement System Analysis
    • Gauge R & R Assessments
  • Research & evaluate alternative laboratory testing equipment (continuous improvement).
