The company offer family history and genealogy services with access to billions of records and some of the best historical databases out there. Despite their historical focus, they are a fast-growing company using some of the most modern technology out there. By utilising some really cutting edge tools, they are on a mission to bring families together with their own history.
They are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to take charge of their whole data process - from design to analysis. They are also experimenting with cross-functional teams so you'll be collaborating with others across product, engineering, and marketing teams, and gaining exposure to loads of different aspects of the business.
Tech-wise, you should have:
** Experience with SQL-based data modelling
** Knowledge of cloud-based data warehouses
** Experience with machine learning in Python or R
It would be a bonus if you:
** Already have experience leading teams and mentoring more junior members of staff
** Have worked with modern tools such as Snowflake, Looker, or Snowplow
While this is a hands-on technical role at its core, you should also be a confident communicator and comfortable with explaining technical ideas to non-technical people.
There are lots of great opportunities for career progression with these guys, including budgets for learning and development if you are wanting to upskill, and the opportunity to eventually move into a managerial role.
They have offices in Dundee and London and are looking for people who can be in either office roughly once or twice a month to work collaboratively. The data science team is based in Central London, so being able to get to London once a month would be the most ideal scenario.
