Lead Mechanical Engineer

POSITION INFO:
Job Description: Lead and develop a high-performing mechanical design team Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to design engineers Manage engineering resources and allocate tasks according to project priorities Interface with customers and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver engineering solutions Ensure engineering deliverables comply with customer specifications, industry standards, and project requirements Manage project schedules and ensure key milestones are achieved Lead internal and external design reviews to ensure technical accuracy and compliance Develop and review 3D models, engineering drawings, and associated design documentation Support product development activities from concept through to production Maintain engineering data and documentation within relevant management systems Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to design quality, project delivery, and team performance Contribute to engineering governance, resource planning, and technical decision-making processes Skills & Experience: Minimum 15 years' post-graduate engineering design experience Strong background in product design and engineering development Proven leadership experience managing engineering or design teams Strong project management and resource planning capabilities Experience conducting design reviews and ensuring compliance with engineering standards Proficiency in CAD design, including 3D modelling and 2D engineering drawings Experience working with Product Data Management (PDM) systems Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities Experience leveraging digital engineering tools to improve design quality, data management, and project execution Willingness to travel internationally when required Qualification: BEng \/ BSc in Mechanical Engineering Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
