POSITION INFO:
Our Client, a well-established South African Manufacturer in the Textiles industry is seeking to URGENTLY appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Learning and Development Manager to be based in their Pinetown, Durban, KZN Operations.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
- To strategically develop capability and drive a high learning culture to deliver on current and future individual and business goals by implementing development initiatives for succession candidates and developing leaders.
- To embed a mentoring culture and champion Group development initiatives via end-to-end Learning and Development interventions.
MINIMUM KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Bachelor’s degree; Human Resource Management / Industrial Psychology or similar
- Post Graduate Qualification in Human Resource Management / Industrial Psychology or similar ESSENTIAL
- 5 - 10 years in a Senior HR Generalist role; preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- 3 - 5 years of prior Learning and Development experience ESSENTIAL

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop L&D strategies and plans and Support to drive people development to meet the overall business performance objectives.
- Benchmark national and international Learning and Talent Management best practices.
- Implement and maintain the Learning and Development strategy in line with business objectives.
- Design and implement a Learning and Development Framework which is practical and in line with business requirements.
- Provide input into the development of business plans.
- Remain up to date with legislation and the industry trends in general to enhance your contribution to the Learning and Development activities of the organization.
- Provide input and compiling of training and development budgets to achieve the targets detailed in the Learning and Development strategy.
- Responsible for monitoring approved budgets, identifying variances, and resolving gaps.
- Support cost efficiency initiatives.
- Assess/Review and authorize payments in line with approved budget and policy for processing.
- Assess variances as required and monitor remedial action within the span of control (including budget guidelines, forecasting, and reporting).
- Manage the development and implementation of training-related frameworks, policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the achievement of the strategic business objectives.
- Conduct a training needs analysis for the business unit.
- Ensure alignment of development plans with strategic training and development plans.
- Implement and manage the effective delivery of leadership, management, and supervisory development programs in line with company strategic objectives (including identification of internal leadership pool and external pipeline of Talent).
- Coordinate mentorship programs to enhance business performance.
- Support succession planning through the identification and management of development plans and interventions.
- Develop the organization''s capability in line with the competency framework to support Talent Management priorities.
- Implement and manage company Induction/Onboarding program.
- Manage the implementation and coordination of learning and development events.
- Participate in the Development of company EE plans and inform the goals and objectives of the plans in line with the Learning and Development strategy.
- Ensure delivery of solutions that contributes to business performance and the proper delivery of planned training within set timelines.
- Apply learning theory/models, benchmark best practices/trends, and maintain knowledge of cutting-edge approaches, including E-Learning to deliver sustainable learning solutions that drive impact.
- Ensure that the training calendar/schedule is effectively managed including the planning training resources and training room requirements.
- Provide visible and clear leadership to the team, promoting a culture of high performance and customer-centricity.
- Conduct regular management and team meetings to ensure high levels of communication, teamwork, integration, motivation, training, and productivity.
- Maintain a department organizational structure, capacity (knowledge and skills), and career pathing sufficient to meet business strategies and operational targets.
- Partner with the business to ensure that all learning and development needs are addressed in line with company strategic objectives.
- Establish, monitor, and manage healthy, diverse, workable internal and external relationships, including the interface with external providers to ensure functional needs are met and organizational goals are achieved.
- Compile and submit Training and Development Reports.
- Provision of Timely and accurate reports following business and manager requirements.
- Report non-compliance and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance.
- Ensure an appropriate selection process is followed in the identification and appointment of service providers.
- Manager delivery of the approved project(s) within time, cost, and quality.
- End-to-end contract and contractor management to ensure achievement of functional and business objectives.
- Manage the annual Workplace Skills Plan development process and coordinate the submissions to the SETA are required by the HR Executive.
- Drive Learning and Development Program (learnerships), BBEE initiatives, and statutory reporting.
- Build fruitful relationships with the relevant SETA’s and ensure applications are submitted timeously and regulatory requirements are satisfied.
- Develop relationships with relevant tertiary educational institutions to attract talented students.
- Drive bursary schemes and serve as Skills Development facilitator.
- Develop and manage Competency framework and Assessments.
- Design and develop world-class HR programs and practices in line with the Learning and Development strategy.
