POSITION INFO:
CORE PURPOSE OF JOB The Department of Human Movement Science is a well-established academic department housed in a new state-of-the-art building. It has a recognized Biokinetics and Sport Science Unit (BSSU) and is an integral part of the Madibaz High Performance Complex. The Department is looking for a qualified Biokineticist with in-depth knowledge in the field of Kinanthropometry, Evaluation Methods and \/ or Motor Development. The incumbent will be expected to facilitate and administer the learning of students in modules presented at undergraduate and postgraduate level, to do research, to contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the Department and the University. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Lecture in the various Human Movement Science under- and postgraduate programs and taking responsibility for, amongst others, but not necessarily limited to the following focus areas: Kinanthropometry, Evaluation Methods and \/ or Motor Development . Be responsible for all academic related activities, including compiling course guides, manuals and assessments. Assist with research in the department and supervision of senior undergraduate and post-graduate students in research. Assist with academic and operational administration. Identify students at risk, develop intervention strategies and monitor student progress. Participate in community engagement and service learning. CORE COMPETENCIES Good knowledge of the theory and applications of under- and postgraduate teaching in the areas of Kinanthropometry, Evaluation Methods and \/ or Motor Development. Experience in facilitating learning at a tertiary level. Experience in clinical assessment, and the utilization of specialized laboratory equipment. Proven ability to facilitate learning of students in theoretical and practical components of Human Movement Science. Ability to compile student guides and manuals. Good administrative skills. Ability to contribute to community engagement and service learning. Ability to conduct research, publish, as well as present findings at conferences. REQUIREMENTS To be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must have the following : Qualification Be in possession of a Master's degree in Human Movement Science (or equivalent). Registration Be a registered Biokineticist with the HPCSA. Experience Have two years' experience in either teaching\/lecturing\/research or industry in the relevant field or Two years' teaching experience at university level. Provide evidence of experience in clinical assessment and the utilization of specialized laboratory equipment in the field of Kinathropometry and evaluation methods. Research The publication of a journal article(s) or a conference presentation would be a strong recommendation. An ISAK qualification level I or II would be an advantage. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff and the public . Have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Power-Point and Outlook).
