Legal & Compliance Manager

SUMMARY:
A leading FinTech and e-commerce group is looking for a commercially minded Legal & Compliance Manager to join their growing team.

This is a key role for a hands-on legal professional who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, innovative environment and has solid experience within financial services, payments, or FinTech. You’ll be responsible for managing legal and regulatory matters across the group, including a rapidly expanding payments platform.

POSITION INFO:

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing all legal, compliance, and regulatory matters across the group
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures
• Ensuring ongoing compliance with SARB, FSCA, PASA, Visa, Mastercard, and other relevant regulatory bodies
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial, supplier, merchant, and partnership agreements
• Monitoring regulatory and legislative changes and advising the business on impact and required actions
• Supporting AML, data privacy, risk, and governance initiatives
• Liaising with regulators, auditors, legal advisors, and internal stakeholders
• Managing dispute resolution processes and supporting responses to audits, inquiries, and reporting obligations

Requirements

• LLB or equivalent legal qualification (admitted attorney advantageous)
• 7+ years’ experience in a legal and/or compliance role, preferably within financial services, payments, or FinTech
• Strong understanding of the NPS Act, FIC Act, Companies Act, and related legislation
• Ability to assess legal risk and provide pragmatic, commercially sound advice
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and contract negotiation skills
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of legal and compliance matters
