JOB SUMMARY:
Our client in the retail industry is looking for a Legal Advisor: Trade. The role will support the Senior Legal Advisor: Trade Hub with respect to trade-related legal matters pertaining to the business.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide top quality and efficient legal support, under the supervision of the Senior Legal Advisor: Trade, which includes drafting, reviewing and finalizing contracts, attending to ad hoc legal queries and the management of any related litigation and disputes to:
the Foods team, respect of all food and food-related supply contracts; and
the FBH team, in respect of all clothing and general merchandise-related supply contracts.
- Support the Senior Legal Advisor with respect to the management of the our clients'''''''' liquor licensing portfolio in South Africa and Africa, including instructing external legal counsel in relation to applications for and administration of liquor licenses.
- Support the Real Estate department, with respect to all lease agreements concluded by our client in South Africa and internationally.
- Provide regular written reports to the Senior Legal Advisor on the progress of matters and projects managed by the Legal Advisor.
- Update template contracts (as required) in respect of business units and departments falling in the Senior Legal Advisor''''''''s span of control.
- Support the Senior Legal Advisor with respect to the implementation and maintenance of an effective contract management system/contracts register in respect of the business units and departments falling in the Senior Legal Advisor''''''''s span of control.
- Provide training to business units and departments falling in the Senior Legal Advisor''''''''s span of control in respect of any new or amended applicable legislation.
- Assist business units with advice on legislation and alignment of business processes and contracts in accordance with legislation.
- Generally support the Senior Legal Advisor: Trade.
