Legal Counsel - Renewable Energy

Our client, an international leader in the field of Renewable Energy, specializing in PV Solar, Hybrid and Wind utility plants, seeks to employ a well experienced and qualified Legal Counsel, with proven experience in power plant, Energy and REIPPPP complex projects

We do require candidates who have a strong background and experience in writing and negotiating EPC contracts, Power Purchase Agreements, O&M agreements and related project contracts, permits and consents for these projects.

KEY REQUIREMENTS TO MEET FOR CONSIDERATION:

• You will have completed a postgraduate degree in Business Law (ideally Civil and Common Law), coupled with 5-8 years experience in private practice and a strong knowledge of South African IPP and Renewable Energy projects.
• You will have gained experience in providing advice on risks, legal requirements and corrective proposal solutions within the REIPPP environment, coupled with being solidly experience in drafting and negotiating industry specific contracts, as well as being involved in joint venture negotiations/contract drafting, acquisition/sale negotiations/contract drafting and project financial agreements.
• You will be a close support to the business development team, as well as the construction and asset management teams, being able to provide advice and guidance on legal requirements for them to fulfil their roles successfully
• You will have sound working knowledge of the ensuring of compliance or corporate policies, as well as creating a culture of integrity within the group.
• You will be a team player, pragmatic, flexible and an effective communicator, with a keen eye for detail
