JOB SUMMARY:
The University of Fort Hare seeks to appoint appropriately qualified and experienced candidates for a vacant post in Office of the Deputy Registrar: Governance and Legal Services

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

Possession of SAQA-approved LLB Degree. A SAQA-approved LLM Degree would be an added advantage.
Admission as an attorney of the High Court or an advocate who has passed examination of the National Bar Examination Board.
Four (4) year post admission experience in litigation, rendering legal advisory services, drafting and vetting of legal contracts.
Evidence of contracts administration experience

Responsibilities Include:

Managing the legal risk profile of the University
Monitoring the University’s regulatory environment
Draft, negotiate and conclude contracts on behalf of the University, ensuring protection of the University’s intellectual property and general risk mitigation
Ensuring the sustainability of partnerships and collaborations
Maintaining a comprehensive record of all concluded contracts, agreements and memoranda of understanding.
Resolution of disputes with third parties, including mediation and arbitration and representing the University at formal and informal fora
Providing expert guidance, advice and service to the entire University on all aspects of the law
Student discipline and forensic investigations
Drafting of University policies and monitoring compliance
