A Legal and Policy Researcher (1-year contract) vacancy is available at our Client, Wits Health Consortium, in Parktown, Johannesburg - Gauteng.

POSITION INFO:

Background

Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited (“WHC“) is a wholly-owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences. WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives. In addition, WHC offers a range of products and services to the Academics conducting these activities in order to assist with the management thereof.

Main purpose of the job

To undertake and support health policy and legal research on diet-related NCD Prevention

Location

School of Public Health, Parktown, Johannesburg

Key performance areas

To provide research support for Priceless projects
Experience with planning and working on grants
Identify funding opportunities
Assist with grant and report writing
Conduct literature reviews, background research, weekly news and publications round up on developments related to NIH
Participate in internal and external networks, workshops and collaborative partnerships, representing PRICELESS
Provide other research office support to the project leads

Required minimum education and training

LLB and Masters Degree in Law

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities

Experience in legal research, public health law, or related field is desirable but not required
Track record in research and publications will be advantageous
Demonstrated interest in public health and NCD research will be highly advantageous

Required minimum work experience

2 years of work experience (not sector-specific)
