SUMMARY:
A national market leader in the lifting equipment industry is seeking a qualified and experienced Lifting Machine Inspector (LMI) to join their team in Johannesburg.

• To carry out Load testing and Inspections of the above-mentioned Scopes, as per the Requirements of Driven Machinery Regulation 18 (5), (6) and (7) of the OHS Act 2015
• Carry out said Load testing and Inspections, as per the Standards Incorporated in the Act under section 44, OEM Specification and company checklist and registers
• In full compliance with the company policies and procedures.
• Technical product knowledge
• Knowledge of work of height machinery, lifting machinery & equipment
• Industry specific knowledge i.e., mining, construction, light & heavy industrial.
• Knowledge of MEWP equipment regarding operations, functions, technical functions, parts, and tools including a comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, engine mechanics, electrical, electronics and technical schematics
• The LMI reports to the SHEQ Manager.
• Communicate compliance and non-compliance of lifting machinery to stakeholders
• Compile and maintain inspection schedules
• Explain and apply engineering skills in inspecting lifting machines
• Comply with relevant legislation in the workplace.
• Adherence to ECSA Code OF Practice for lifting Machinery Inspectors.
• Maintain LMI registration with ECSA by complying with the requirements of Continuous Professional Development
• Inspect lifting machinery and equipment in accordance
• Perform thorough inspection/load testing of equipment within regulations and required standards
• Prepare accurate field inspection report documents in accordance with company report templates
• Maintain effective customer relations through service quality and timeliness
• Responsible for the safe keeping and maintenance of assigned vehicle & equipment

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Grade 12
• Certified & Registered with ECSA as a Lifting Machine Inspector (LMI)
• ECSA Scopes required: MEWPS (Forklift & Telehandlers) + Mobile Cranes (Adv)
• Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel when required
• Min 3-5 years’ (post registration) experience in lifting equipment inspections and techniques
• Computer literate: MS Office
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
