Linux Engineer (6 month contract)

Our client in Sandton is looking for a Linux Engineer Redhat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu experience.

• RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator)
• Linux+
• Microsoft HyperV, VMware, KVM, Redhat Enterprise Linux 7, CentOS 7, Oracle Linux 7, Ubuntu 16, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 r2, Microsoft windows server 2016, Microsoft SQL Server 2012 r2, Microsoft SQL server 2014, Microsoft SQL server 2016, MariaDB, SQL Developer, SQL Server Management Studio, Apache tomcat, PHP, Apache, Docker, NGINX, WSUS,  Nagios

Responsibilities:

• Monitor systems performance
• User administration (Setup and maintaining account)
• Create and maintain Progress databases - SUSE, RedHat and Centos Linux
• Create and maintain Unix users, profiles, logins and printers
• Create and maintain Progress licenses
• Update patches on Unix Servers
• Install and upgrade new Centos and RedHat Servers
• Update statistics once a month from application and DB Servers
• Dump and load Progress databases on a regular basis
• Setup batch files for FTP Server and new installations (cups)
• Restore databases as per request (development department)
• Disaster recovery setup and deployment of new databases
• Operational tasks - Dbstats, disk space, memory usage and DB monitoring stats
• Handle backups and recoveries
• Performance tuning
• Update Nagios monitoring and setup
• Loading new definitions to development databases
• Dump and load Progress databases and maintenance
• Expand file systems and disk partitions on RedHat Servers
• Nakivo backups, adding servers and maintaining Replication for DR
• Create Scripts and Jobs Automations
