About the Role
A privately owned lodge in the beautiful coastal town of
Simonstown is seeking a well-presented, professional, and experienced
Lodge Anchor / Duty Manager to oversee and coordinate daily lodge operations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about hospitality, take initiative, and ensure guests receive world-class service in a relaxed yet refined environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the front-of-house operations, including guest check-in/check-out, hosting, and concierge services
- Ensure an exceptional guest experience throughout the lodge stay
- Supervise and support junior staff across all departments (housekeeping, kitchen, service, maintenance)
- Conduct room checks and maintain lodge standards
- Coordinate daily staff tasks and briefings
- Assist with inventory and stock control
- Oversee reservations and guest communication prior to arrival
- Act as the point of contact for any guest queries or concerns
- Step in for the General Manager or Owners when required
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in hospitality, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lodge anchor role
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent knowledge of front-of-house operations, food & beverage service, and guest engagement
- Proficient in MS Office and reservation systems
- Fluent in English (Afrikaans or additional languages beneficial)
- Valid South African driver’s license (PDP an advantage)
- Friendly, hands-on, calm under pressure, and highly professional in appearance and conduct
- South African citizenship or valid work permit
