Logistics Controller

A company in Germiston, Johannesburg East Rand, dealing with trucks, trailers, parts and salvage needs a Logistics Controller.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS:

Knowledge

Grade 12 Minimum
Logistics qualification will be an advantage
PC Literacy – MS Office
Mechanical knowledge of vehicles is greatly advantageous
At least 1 year’s related work experience – ideally in a warehouse or with vehicles
Driver’s licence - essential
Sound numeric ability
The successful candidate will receive 1-month on-the-job training

Interpersonal competencies

Operates as a team player
Interacts in a professional manner

Personal competencies

Conscientious - meets deadlines, pays attention to detail and ensures quality

LOGISTICS CONTROLLER – JOB DESCRIPTION

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Vehicles

To book in salvage
To book in vehicles
To arrange for salvage upliftment with panel beater
To liaise with towing companies
To ensure that parts received, correspond to original quotation.
To list vehicles received
Ensure accurate checklists for valuations
Write purchase orders & delivery notes
Get quotes from suppliers/dealers

General

Filing
Workshop purchases - consumables
To record engine, gearbox serial numbers, chassis and part numbers on booking sheet
Ensure registration documents are in order and corresponds with vehicle

Other

Attend to all ad hoc tasks as required
Partake in Stock take
Update stock lists
Controlling stock movements/logistics
Control recycling area:
Tyres
Municipal
Recyclable
Scrap metal

KEY MEASURES:

Feedback from clients, customers, visitors and staff
Accuracy and availability of information and records
Timely response
Stock on hand balances to stock sheet

WHAT SUCCESS WILL LOOK LIKE:

Clients, visitors and staff are impressed by service and efficiency
Information accurate and available
A professional and efficient image is portrayed
Vehicle documentation in order and available
Zero defects during processing

IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS:
Constant interaction and team relationship with the Operations Manager, and third parties.

PROBLEM SOLVING:

Needs to exercise judgement based on data and logic, within set parameters and guidelines.
Daily processing occurs within set procedures.
Diplomacy needed when dealing with people.
Contact with clients, visitors and external service providers where necessary.
