JOB SUMMARY:
A South African leader in freight logistics is looking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Logistics Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will manage, coordinate, and execute client logistics solutions and identify new business opportunities for the Company.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Required Experience:

Working knowledge of the shipping / logistics industry
Exposure to the perishable industry
Leadership ability to manage and lead a team
Grade 12
Degree / Diploma preferable

Deliverables:

Ability to build and maintain client relationships internally and externally
Plan and execute client visits according to visit planner for weekly/monthly and strategic planner
Know and understand your clientsâ needs to enable market feedback to be given when required
Handling, driving, and resolving client queries within clients expected time frame
Plan and execute entertainment of clients in line with the entertainment plan
Highlight any deviations from (back to basic) procedures to ensure no service failures
For the period of red alert - daily coordination of issues between all stakeholders, actively
implementation of solutions and escalation to avoid service failures
Negotiate, implement, and drive internal and external clients operational logistic plan to ensure smooth and effortless service delivery
Ensure implementation and wrap up meetings are scheduled in advance with all the correct parties including finance, operations and commercial
Ensure clients logistics plan matches the internal logistics plans/reports on the system and is in line with Company strategy
Identify, negotiate, and implement viable cost solutions for internal and external clients
Ensure that Standard Trading Conditions, Credit Applications and Credit limits are in place for all contracts and quotes
Facilitate discussions with client in event that extra-ordinary costs are incurred as a result of logistics decisions
Building new business through mining/cold calling for leads and converting it to sales whilst maintaining and growing existing business for the group
