MECHANICAL FITTER & TURNER - Moorreesburg - R36 000 to R42 000 Cost To Company (pension, risk benefits & medical aid)

Manufacturing company seeks a Trade Tested Fitter and Turner.

Main Purpose of the Job:

Reporting directly to the Group Leader, the incumbent will be responsible to operate and maintain the plant and equipment to ensure minimum production downtime, the maximum life span of equipment, and the production of quality wooden products.

Minimum requirements:

▪ South African Citizen

▪ NTC3 Mechanical Engineering

▪ Qualified Fitter Section 13

▪ 5 years (post-trade test) work experience in maintenance and manufacturing environment

▪ Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Compressors, and Dust Extraction essential

▪ Willingness to perform stand-by/callout duties and work overtime as and when required

▪ Valid Driver’s License and own transport

▪ Must reside within a 40 km radius of Moorreesburg.

Physical and Environmental requirements:

▪ Use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids

▪ work in small, cramped areas such as equipment enclosures, etc.

▪ climb ladders or steps to reach the work area

▪ work at heights greater than ten feet

▪ Remain in a standing position for extended periods

▪ work in a variety of environmental conditions with exposure to the heat & dust elements

▪ move heavy objects with proper equipment.

Key performance areas (inclusive but not limited to):

▪ Recommend the need to replace/repair equipment or spares

▪ Ensure that minimum stock levels on critical spares are kept intact and order spares

▪ Assist in the planning and implementation of project work

▪ Train apprentices

▪ Attend to all mechanical faults/breakdowns on equipment, document root cause analysis and countermeasures

▪ Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment

▪ Working or operating under safe work procedures

▪ Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly workplace (5s)

▪ Perform any other legal and reasonable duties as and where instructed.

Knowledge, skills, and competencies:

▪ Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures that apply the mechanical infrastructure

▪ Technical aptitude – able to fault find and repair breakdowns

▪ Proficiency in root cause analysis and preventative action

▪ Ability to follow clear instructions (follow a planned maintenance procedure)

▪ Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English & Afrikaans)

▪ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

▪ Systematic, neat & methodical
