Machine Operator (with Millwright Qualification) – POS25213

Based: Centurion

Salary: R20 000.00 – R25 000.00 pm

Summary

The Machine Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production machinery while ensuring minimal downtime and high-quality output. Preference will be given to candidates who are qualified Millwrights or who are currently studying toward their Millwright Trade Certificate, as this background allows them to support maintenance and technical troubleshooting when required.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

• Matric / N3 (with Maths & Science).
• Millwright Trade Certificate (advantageous) or currently studying toward Millwright qualification (apprenticeship/learnership).
• At least 1–2 years’ experience in a manufacturing/production environment operating machinery.
• Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and machine manuals.
• Computer literacy (MS Office; exposure to SCADA/CMMS systems beneficial).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends if required.
• Strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn.
• Attention to detail and quality focus.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
• Safety-conscious mindset.
• Self-motivated and reliable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor production machinery according to safety and quality standards.
• Conduct machine start-up, shutdown, and basic operational checks.
• Ensure machines are running efficiently and product quality is maintained.
• Assist with fault finding, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical/electrical repairs.
• Support scheduled preventative maintenance under guidance of maintenance team.
• Record and report any equipment malfunctions or quality issues.
• Assist Millwrights in machine installations, overhauls, and servicing.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area.
• Adhere to company safety policies and operational procedures.
• Complete accurate production and machine operation reports.
