POSITION INFO:
A well-established educational institution based in Pietermaritzburg is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the property, buildings, equipment, and grounds, including kitchen facilities and accommodation areas.
This live-in role is ideally suited to a dependable and proactive individual with strong general maintenance experience and supervisory capabilities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Proven experience in plumbing, building, electrical, and general maintenance
- Heat exchange maintenance/repair experience advantageous
- Previous exposure to managing institutional facilities is highly beneficial
- Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards
- Supervisory experience essential
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate daily maintenance activities across the institution
- Perform routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of all systems and equipment
- Oversee grounds and garden maintenance
- Assist with hiring and managing external contractors and in-house staff
- Maintain compliance with safety and health standards
- Stand in for the Estates Manager during periods of absence
- Be available for standby or call-out duties on alternate weekends when boarders are present
This role offers on-site accommodation in a house provided as part of the package.
