POSITION INFO:
VACANCY: MAINTENANCE FITTER Location: Bloemfontein, Free State Position: Permanent Salary: R20 000-R30 000 per month, negotiable up to R35 000 for exceptional experience A well-established food manufacturing company is looking for a qualified Maintenance Fitter to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial production machinery and equipment. Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification Qualified Fitter with a recognised Trade Test Certificate At least 5 years' post-trade experience Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience Experience in the food manufacturing industry would be advantageous Good mechanical and electrical knowledge Valid Code 8 driver's licence Own reliable transport Willingness to work standby after hours when required Must be medically fit to perform the duties of the position Key Responsibilities: Conduct daily inspections of machinery and equipment Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance Attend to breakdowns and complete repairs Diagnose mechanical faults and identify their root causes Install, upgrade and modify production equipment Fit and assemble metal components and machine parts Work with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical systems Participate in scheduled shutdown maintenance Complete job cards and maintenance documentation Report major faults to the Maintenance Manager Supervise and guide maintenance assistants Mentor staff and share technical knowledge Follow lockout procedures, safety checks and permit requirements Maintain high housekeeping, hygiene and food-safety standards Comply with OHS, HACCP and company procedures Key Competencies: Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability Quality workmanship Safety consciousness Accuracy and attention to detail Manual dexterity Reliability and good time management Ability to prioritise tasks Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision Leadership, coaching and staff-training ability Shortlisted candidates will participate in online and face-to-face interviews.
