MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Dairy Farm | Tsitsikamma, Eastern Cape

Do you thrive in a hands-on maintenance role where no two days are the same? We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager who enjoys farm life, takes ownership and can keep equipment, infrastructure and a maintenance team performing under pressure.
Based on a dairy farm in the Tsitsikamma, this role requires someone who can manage multiple priorities, solve problems practically and respond quickly to breakdowns to help keep farm production running. A genuine enthusiasm for the agricultural environment is essential.

The role

Reporting to the Farm Captain, you will lead the maintenance team and oversee the upkeep, preventative maintenance and repair of farm equipment, machinery, utilities and infrastructure. Your focus will be on reliable operations, safe working practices and minimising downtime.

The person we are looking for

You are proactive, organised and dependable. You take pride in fixing problems properly while planning ahead to prevent repeat breakdowns. You communicate clearly, work well with others and are comfortable moving between planned maintenance, urgent repairs and team supervision as priorities change.
Above all, you understand that maintenance supports the whole farm, and you enjoy being part of that environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key responsibilities Manage the maintenance and repair of tractors, vehicles, motorbikes, trailers, implements and other farm machinery. Oversee the maintenance of irrigation systems, pivots, pumps and slurry systems. Maintain farm buildings, housing, roads and pivot tracks. Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules, service records and maintenance priorities. Coordinate breakdown repairs, contractors and specialist service providers. Manage workshop organisation, tools, spare parts and consumables within approved budgets and procurement procedures. Lead, allocate work to and develop the maintenance team. Maintain safe working conditions and ensure adherence to relevant health and safety requirements. What you will need At least 6 years' experience in a maintenance supervisor or maintenance manager role. An electrical or mechanical certificate; a relevant diploma would be advantageous. A valid driver's licence. Agricultural maintenance experience, including at least 1 year in a farming environment. Strong practical fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. The ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritise competing demands and follow through. A calm, decisive approach to breakdowns and pressure, with a clear focus on keeping farm production running. Proven team leadership skills and a hands-on approach. A genuine enjoyment of farming and the agricultural working environment.
