Maintenance Project Engineer

Opportunity Available!! Our leading client in the Automotive Sector is looking to employ a Maintenance Projects Engineer to join their dynamic team in Durban.

POSITION INFO:
Job Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution:

• Plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance-related projects (equipment installations, relocations, upgrades, and facility modifications).
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
• Manage contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Oversee commissioning and handover of new/repaired equipment to the maintenance and production teams.

• Provide engineering expertise to troubleshoot complex maintenance issues during project execution.
• Ensure new equipment meets reliability and maintainability standards.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to develop preventive/predictive maintenance plans for new assets.
• Support the implementation of Pragma On Key CMMS for new equipment and modifications.
• Develop and implement critical spares lists for all equipment.

• Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current maintenance workflows and implement standardized procedures to enhance productivity.
• Digital & CMMS Optimization: Improve the use of Pragma On Key CMMS for work order management, asset tracking, and predictive maintenance.
• Data-Driven Maintenance: Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor equipment performance, downtime trends, and maintenance effectiveness.
• Documentation & Training: Create and maintain standardized maintenance manuals, checklists, and training programs for new systems.
• Spare Parts & Inventory Systems: Enhance Syspro ERP integration for optimized spare parts management and critical stock level monitoring.
• Automation & IoT Integration: Explore opportunities for smart maintenance solutions (vibration sensors, condition monitoring, etc.) to reduce unplanned downtime.

• Minimum qualification: Qualified Artisan (Trade Tested Millwright, Electrician, or Fitter) OR a National Diploma / BTech / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with automotive manufacturing equipment (presses, robotics, welding, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, paint plant) is highly desirable.
• Project Management experience will be highly advantageous.
