SUMMARY:
Our large Swellendam manufacturing client requires a maintenance supervisor to properly deploy the maintenance team to optimise maintenance quality and efficiency.
POSITION INFO:
Key Performance Areas
Artisan Performance:
- Effectively deploy artisans to expedite the repair of plant
- Conduct thorough quality assessments on equipment repairs and ensure timely closure of job cards
- Cultivate, motivate, and lead teams
Root Cause Analysis:- Investigate breakdowns and equipment failures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence
Maintenance Optimisation:- Work closely with maintenance teams to develop, implement, and refine maintenance strategies that align with industry best practices
- Monitor and analyse maintenance processes to identify areas for improvement
Predictive Maintenance:- Assist the Reliability Supervisor in implementing predictive maintenance techniques, including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis, to proactively identify potential issues and mitigate risks
Quality:- Implement and enforce housekeeping practices to uphold a high standard of work
- Lead daily discussions on performance and safety to analyse equipment performance, identify trends, and enhance plant reliability
Spare Parts Management:- Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the availability of critical spare parts, thereby minimising equipment downtime
- Maintain accurate records of spare parts usage and inventory
Employee management and development:- Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and policies
- Define clear job profiles for all team members and regularly review goals to assess achievement of results
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and mentoring to ensure objectives are met
- Develop individual development plans for each employee to support their career
- Ensure adequate succession planning to meet ongoing and anticipated business needs
Health and Safety:- Participate in safety forums and attend relevant training/programmes
- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
- Comply with safety policies and procedures
Qualification and Experience:- N4 or equivalent
- Qualified and trade tested mechanically
- BTech Mechanical or equivalent (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in an engineering or a similar role in an industrial setting
- Production background (advantageous)
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:- The ability to operate under pressure executing fault finding on systems and equipment
- Stress tolerance
- Ability to motivate and train artisans and apprentices to repair equipment quickly and efficiently to reduce plant downtime to a minimum
