SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a skilled and analytical Management Accountant to join their Operations team. This role is responsible for financial analysis, reporting, compliance, and cost control activities across the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity, efficiency, and compliance of the organisation.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and control the financial performance of the business.
- Ensure that all financial systems and frameworks are established and aligned with business performance objectives.
- Maintain the accuracy and completeness of financial records on a monthly basis.
- Ensure adherence to IFRS standards and uphold the financial integrity of company accounts.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and submit annual financial statements (Income Statement and Balance Sheet).
- Collaborate with relevant departments to compile monthly forecasts and financial reports, including the weekly Dash and monthly Flash.
- Analyse financial performance across divisions (actual vs budget vs forecast) and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial packs and ensure timely sign-off on general ledger reconciliations.
Stock Control
- Assist in preparing and attending monthly scanned stock counts (Outbound & Reverse Logistics).
- Perform bi-monthly cycle counts on Auto, Scrap, Industrial, and Labels.
- Investigate variances and compile detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
Warehouse Analytics
- Generate and analyse statistics on warehouse KPIs, including operational metrics like battery pick rates and processing times.
- Conduct benchmarking exercises across branches using warehouse analytics tools (e.g., Metrix).
- Identify inventory anomalies and inefficiencies, recommending and supporting action plans for improvement.
Compliance
- Operate within established controls and procedures to maintain integrity and transparency.
- Monitor departmental risks and assist with maintaining the risk register.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and standards to avoid wasteful or irregular expenditure.
- Support the preparation and availability of documentation for audits and internal reviews.
Cost and Financial Control
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process and track spending against budgets.
- Promote the efficient and transparent use of company resources.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Monitor expenditure and flag budget deviations to the General Manager.
Customer Service & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the organisation in meetings with customers and other key partners.
- Provide problem resolution aligned with organisational values and customer expectations.
- Ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) and compliance requirements are consistently met.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (NQF Level 7)
Advantageous:- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (NQF Level 8) with CIMA registration
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Accounting or similar financial role, ideally within the manufacturing sector
Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and financial software (e.g., ERP systems)
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial procedures
- Familiarity with IFRS and compliance standards
