JOB SUMMARY:
Our client a Public Entity requires a Manager AIS.

The purpose of the position is to ensure provision of Aeronautical Information and to ensure that the information for the safety, regularity or efficiency of Air Navigation is available in a suitable form as well as management of the functioning of Regulation Oversight Part 175, and management of the registration of ICAO Radio Telephony call signs and Location Indicators.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key Performance Areas:

Operational Management
  • Manage the delegation and availability of resources applicable to aeronautical information.
  • Timeous response to operational demand changes.
  • Ensure safety oversight of service provider/s and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the verification and dissemination of Aeronautical Information (related to all aspects of civil aviation regulations, e.g. aircraft, operations, security, airports, airspace, etc. and ensure compliance of AIMU technical requirements and facilities approvals.
  • Manage SLA’s with data providers. In addition accountabilities include approval of parachute jump requests, registration of RTF call signs and location indicators.
  • Oversight of internal information process flow control.
  • Research and development in relation to compliance with all aspects of Aeronautical Information Management, benchmarking and development, etc.
Planning
  • Tactical planning of resources requirements including human, physical, technical and financial.
  • Initiate regulatory reviews regarding the applicable regulations and submission to CARCOM Assessment and inputs to the Entity’s policy development process.
  • Research, develop and draft Regulations and SOPs and relate guidance material B.
Budgeting and Control
  • Manage the delegation and availability of resources applicable to projects and internal routine requirements.
  • Timeous response to operational demand changes.
  • Development of annual budget and control of expenditure.
Communications and Safety Promotion
  • Project a satisfactory image of the Entity to all stakeholders.
  • Provide industry feedback to the Authority. Participation in regional and global AIS forums.
  • Arrange, coordinate and present safety promotion activities such as publications, seminars or workshops.
  • Addressing technical queries related to areas of responsibility Interdepartmental interaction in cases where queries, accidents or compliance matters crosses departmental boundaries.
Management of Directly Reporting Position Holders
  • Manage key performance areas of holders of directly reporting positions to ensure achievement of their agreed objectives.
  • Coaching of staff.
  • Ensure availability of staff to perform required functions. Identify and train staff according to requirements.
Verification and Publications and Coordination
  • Verify and publish the aeronautical information with ICAO standards and requirements.
  • Coordinate with other states Civil Aviation Authorities regarding the exchange of Aeronautical publications.
Quality Standard Oversight
  • Ensure compliance with ICAO SARPS Support and compliance with ISO Represent SA view on international fora.
Requirements:
  • National Diploma and ICAO recognized AIS Course (s)
  • A Degree will be ideal
  • A minimum of 5 years' Operational experience
