POSITION INFO:
Manager: Enterprise Finance & Business Support required for a reputable company based in East London
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Commerce
- Minimum of 8 years working experience in enterprise finance, enterprise support and/or economic development of which 3 years must be at middle management or senior consultant level
Key Performance Areas:
Support in Strategic Planning and Governance:
- Provide input to the organisational strategy, as well as reviewing organisational activities and recommend corrective actions if necessary
- Develop unit operational plans and align all activities undertaken in the unit to ensure delivery of corporate objectives
- Enhance and implement treasury systems, processes, procedures, tools, and control systems
- Implement controls within the section which minimizes potential risk to stakeholders
- Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual reports are prepared accurately, maintained, and submitted timeously to all stakeholders
- Participate in management forums, contributing expertise to enable sound decision making
- Facilitate inter-departmental communication through appropriate structures and systems
- Manage preparation and support of all internal and external audits
Provision of management funding solutions:
- Contribute to the design and packaging of relevant funding solutions to address the financial needs of businesses at regional level, i.e., short- and long-term loan products; Risk Capital; Micro Lending; and other financial products
- Facilitate partnerships and mobilise resources to financially support businesses
- Monitor the implementation of the loan security regime at regional level
- Manage and oversee the provision of funding solutions to improve the sustainability of businesses at regional level
- Manage loan collection processes and contribute to the development of the loan monitoring framework and its implementation at regional level
- Ensure safeguarding of all security documents for the regional portfolio
- Review credit exposures based on the regional loans portfolio reports and implement corrective action
Entrepreneurship and Business Support Programme Management:
- Manage identification of key sectors / industries business support programmes to be implemented at regional level and ensure roll-out thereof
- Provide support for businesses to promote commercial activity and productivity
- Maximize individual and the team’s proficiency in working on all aspects of financing and supporting businesses within the region
- Coordinate and manage the identification of key interventions required to support funded and non-funded businesses within the region
- Plan and provide resources required to support the roll-out of business development services, aligned to operational plans and the company strategy
- Oversee the management of training interventions required for funded and non-funded businesses within the region
- Manage the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of the various business support interventions within the region.
- Lead the process of business plan development and other technical support to increase lending opportunities to enterprises within the region
Portfolio Management and Aftercare:
- Manage regional loan portfolio monitoring and aftercare services on all approved financial products
- Provide monthly reports and facilitate corrective measures if required
- Develop partnerships to increase access to financial services for enterprises within the region
- Manage regional workouts / restructuring of funded businesses and monitor follow-up and recovery of funds disbursed
- Manage incubation support programme including the identification of incubation opportunities (and needs) to be supported within the region
- Establish relationships with partner institutions for the roll out of the enterprise finance and business support programmes within the region
- Manage credit control, collections, and portfolio performance to ensure that financial services are provided and managed to optimise entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods within the region
Management of Pre & Post Investment Support:
- Plan and develop measures required to support the roll-out of enterprise finance and business development services aligned to operational plans and the company strategy
- Contribute to the productivity activities of businesses within the region, which includes conducting feasibility studies, listing targeted markets, and setting business goals
- Provide pre-investment business needs analysis, identify key support interventions and ensure implementation of those interventions post-investment by the company
Budget Management of the Unit:
- Manage and control the capital and operational budget of the Unit to ensure effective and efficient functioning within budgetary parameters of the company
- Evaluate the unit’s performance against the approved budget and addressing deviations/variances
- Monitor, recommend and implement corrective measures to rectify deviations/acts contrary to budgetary provisions, financial regulations, audit
- Authorise requisitions, payments, etc. regarding expenditure as delegated
- Prepare and present reports detailing the status of expenditure and availability of funds for current and short-term interventions
- Prepare budget transfer requests and submit for approval
- Sound planning and forecasting of capital expenditure within area of responsibility
Management of the Regional Team:
- Assign responsibilities and ensure effective task authorisation protocols are in place
- Identify staff development and training to achieve overall organizational objectives
- Manage the performance reporting in accordance with company performance management policy and procedure
- Manage discipline and absenteeism in accordance with organizational codes and procedures
- Build and lead an effective team that works collaboratively with others toward achieving organisational goals
Customer / Stakeholder Management:
- Stakeholder engagement and regular interaction with local municipalities and relevant authorities for resolution of utility issues
- Conduct stakeholder mapping and relationship building sessions for purposes of determining expectations and soliciting feedback on company performance
- Arrange, attend and contribute to meetings with key stakeholders and manage expectations
- Ensure that customer satisfaction survey is conducted annually
- Develop and manage relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
