Managing Executive position available.

POSITION INFO:

Key Functions:

Strategy:

  • Strategic direction and position of the organisation’s Financing Business (Loans), with a holistic view of the Cooperative and all its interests:

-          Obtain market share growth as per approved corporate strategy;

  • Formulate and implement business strategy, business plan and strategic objectives. Review and optimise strategy regularly, assess future business needs through sustainability forecast to ensure currency and appropriateness and take corrective action where needed:

-          Obtain Group Executive approval for Corporate Strategies;

  • Selection of business associates, identification and participation in new ventures:

-          In accordance with the approved strategic plan;

  • Oversee divisional business plans and budgets and the compilation and management thereof for the execution of corporate strategies:

-          Regular reporting to the Group Executive Management regarding performance against the strategy;

-          Actively participate and add value at Exco;

 

Compliance and Corporate Governance:

  • Regular reporting to the Group Executive Management regarding performance against the strategy:

-          Implement decisions of the Group Executive Management and its Committees;

  • Driving the overall corporate governance framework:

-          Compliance with King IV and good corporate governance;

  • Ensure and drive adherence to corporate governance and principles including codes of conduct (e.g. King IV), legislation, statutory requirements, policies and procedures to ensure compliance at all times:

-          Compliance with relevant legislation;

  • Ensure ongoing maintenance of dialogue with Exco to ensure well considered and informed decisions:

-          Conduct regular and effective Executive Management meetings;

-          Proper notices, agendas and minutes for Exco, and other Executive meetings;

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Acts and regulations:

-          Optimal compliance with BBBEE requirements;

-          Compliance with Health and Safety regulations;

  • Ensure regulatory reporting is conducted in line with statutory requirements:

-          Management report of external auditors;

-          Reports / queries from required legislative bodies;

 

Leadership:

  • Visionary leadership: providing direction and strategic leadership to employees, ensuring execution of the company vision and strategic objectives and achievement of expected results:

-          Vision, strategic objectives and ethics established and lived, strong direction provided to business and vision implemented;

-          Organisation’s Financing Business (Loans) established and maintained as a market player, positive reputation;

-          Sets and drives a high performance culture while maintaining the corporate values;

 

Financial and Operational Performance:

  • Responsible for the profitable growth and management of the business unit:

-          Annual business plans and budgets developed and approved by Exco;

  • Drive the creation of sustainable wealth to ensure achievement of strategic targets through sound financial and business practices:

-          Actual financial and other performance achieved, compared to the approved business plans and budgets;

  • Initiate, lead, authorise and drive initiatives aimed at optimising operations:

-          Continuous improvement – show efficiency improvements;

  • Dive and control the strategic and operational budgets, goals and standards:

-          EBITDA growth;

 

Risk Management:

  • Proactively identify and assess critical organisational risks and implement remedial action where necessary:

-          Risk plans and policies approval by the Risk / Audit Committee;

  • Provide early notification of significant changes to Exco with mitigating plans and strategies:

-          Continuous monitoring and reporting to the Risk / Audit Committee;

  • Ensure that formal risk management processes are approved and implemented:

-          Processes are implemented to identify, assess and manage strategic risks;

-          Ensure that risk management is embedded in all major business processes;

 

Strategic Relations and New Business Development:

  • Strategic engagements targeted to keep up to date of industry development, create industry awareness and unlock business opportunities:

-          Successful business relationships. Continuous growth in joint promotions and new business development;

  • Identify, develop and manage strategic partnerships and alliances with stakeholders in the industry and participating employers:

-          Support on decisions and business ventures;

-          Trusting relationships;

-          Professional image upheld at all times;

  • Continuous identification, sourcing and unlocking of new business opportunities:

-          Maintain successful relationships with Exco and team members;

  • Act as company representative, together with the CEO, at professional bodies in the industry;
  • Identify and address stakeholder issues where needed;
  • Ensure market and product research is conducted to remain competitive:

-          Product development / refinement successes;

 

People Management:

  • Ensure efficient and optimised organisational structure staffed with competent individuals:

-          High calibre of human competencies (top talent) attracted, developed, retained and motivated;

  • Create a high-performance culture:

-          Employee turnover in line with business strategy;

  • Ensure robust measurement and monitoring of targets on a regular basis:

-          Conduct bi-annual performance management assessments;

  • Deliver regular, accurate and timely management information, revenue forecasts, reports and analysis, and ensure clear visibility and open communication:

-          Accurate and timeous MI / BI;

  • Drive development and training of employees:

-          Career paths and succession planning;

  • Retention of key talent:

-          Identify and address developmental needs, according to priority;

  • Ensure implementation of equitable HR practices, including the EE plans:

-          Approved EE plans and success;

 

 

Role Specific Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Post Graduate Degree Business Management or Marketing – Essential / Minimum;
  • MBA / MBL Business Administration, Marketing – Recommended / Desirable;

 

Professional Status:

Accreditation and Registration:

  • Certificate: Fitness for Duty – Essential / Minimum;
  • Certified FAIS Professional – Recommended / Desirable;

 

Legal Requirements:

  • Duty of care and skill: Act with care and skill with regards to assigned obligations – Essential / Minimum;
  • King Code IV Fiduciary duties: Act in good faith towards the company; exercise powers conferred to the benefit of the company; avoid conflict between own interests and those of the company; do not use information obtained in capacity of Director for personal gain; retain independence of action and not enter into an agreement which could bring the discretion as a Director into disrepute – Essential / Minimum;
  • Comply with all legal requirements of being a Director and CEO – Essential / Minimum;

 

Experience:

  • Executive Management – Executive Role – 5 years – Essential / Minimum;
  • Divisional leadership role in the financing / sales / credit industry – Operational industry experience and management – 10 years – Essential / Minimum;

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Functional / Technical:

  • Industry and competitor knowledge, knowledge of corporate governance and relevant legislation impacting on business, corporate financial knowledge, knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in SA’s financial services and insurance landscape, networking and influencing skills, advanced business acumen – Essential / Minimum;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, critical relationship building, problem solving and decision making skills, analytical skills and conceptual thinking skills – Essential / Minimum;

 

Managerial / Supervisory:
