Manufacturing Chief Engineer

POSITION INFO:

Manufacturing Chief Engineer required for a reputable automotive manufacturing company based in Gqeberha , Eastern Cape

Requirements :

• Minimum 10 years in automotive industry 
• Manufacturing / Plant or Quality shop manager: 3 to 5 years
• Process Engineering (same perimeter): 3 to 5 years
• Vehicle product development & launch process knowledge
• Cross functional management, communication
• International organisation (design, industrialisation, launch)

Responsibilities:

• Manages the Shop Launch Managers (plant)
• Oversees the activities managed by the Process Project Leaders assigned to the project from Vehicle Process Engineering (Stamping, Welding, Paint, General Assembly, Supply, Industrial, Plastic Parts, IT)
• Coordinates and ensures the implementation of KPI book for each area: Stamping, Welding, Paint, GA, Geometry & Supply with leadership
• Leads meetings: production issue meetings, weekly operational meeting by shop, shop coordination, monthly VPE/MCE/plant L2 leadership reviews, Added Value animation, industrial workgroup, DST (EST) workgroup, Workstation group, investment convergence, quality work group, platform coordination
• Creates new launch Lessons Learned and ensures past Lessons Learned from the Plant and previous launches are implemented to drive MCE standard improvements
• Ensures availability of resources & implementation of training for plant teams, escalates deficiencies as needed
• Organizes & leads the Introduction Workshop (introduction new vehicle in the plant)
• Oversees the process to verify the impact of engineering changes through virtual assessments
