SUMMARY:
A reputable manufacturing company based in the KZN region is searching for a Manufacturing Director that will lead and administer the manufacturing discipline to ensure cost, timing, and quality of performance is achieved.

POSITION INFO:
Functional Definition

  • To lead and administer the manufacturing Discipline in an injection moulding plant, and Painted Parts Plant. The incumbent in this role must engage, organize, lead and transfer the organisation’s vision into day to day activities.
  • The incumbent must understand modern managing principles and techniques in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • The incumbent must demonstrate successful managerial, organisational, monitoring and review, and interpersonal and team building skills. As well as plant related manufacturing processes knowledge in a lean manufacturing context. This incumbent must be an inspiring and inclusive leader as well as an active team worker.
  • This function will be responsible for Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Quality, Health and Safety, Toolroom, Robotics.
Job Description
  • Provide on-site leadership to three sites, motivation and direction through teamwork and communication at all levels.
  • Be able to motivate Management of subordinates by ensuring correct staffing levels, discipline is maintained and performance management is carried out.
  • Participate actively in management team.
  • Budget performance perform to budgeted levels.
  • Maintain sound industrial relations.
  • Ensure the compliance with company and local policies, regulations and values.
  • Responsible for Health, Safety and Environment including OHSAS 18001 Certification, ISO 14001 Certification.
  • Maintaining prescribed Quality System standards. Compliance to ISO 9001.Compliance to IATF 16949.
  • Production Performance, Production Performance to Plan. Meet Customer supply targets.
  • Machine utilization covering machine uptime and tool change times.
  • Maintain Plant 4S.
  • Ensure quality is to standard and achieve scrap targets.
  • Manage Industrial Engineering.
  • Maintenance control: Maintain equipment, tooling, and facilities.
  • Oversee Logistics & Dispatch including Production Planning, control and stock ready for dispatch per customer schedule.
  • Act as a worthy representative towards customers, suppliers and local authorities.
  • Set-up production resources, processes and safety and quality systems in order to deliver quality parts in time, in a cost efficient way.
  • Secure that all manufacturing operations fulfill requirements in terms of safety, quality, delivery precision, cost, and employees engagement.
  • Manage production planning and capacity of the plant in full cooperation with the relevant staff functions.
  • Drive coaching teams towards a world-class delivery performance.
  • Grow further leadership competencies within the plant in order to secure efficient management and preparedness of organization for the future.

Minimum Qualification and Experience
  • NQF level 7 Tertiary qualification , i.e. Operations Management/Engineering/ MBA or management training equivalent is advantageous
  • Minimum five-years'' experience as a seasoned senior manufacturing manager in the automotive or Manufacturing Industry
  • Experience leading teams and managing people at executive level
  • Experience in production manufacturing processes and process improvements
  • Knowledge of OSH Act/Labour Laws /ISO Quality Systems
  • Legal liability trained (16.2 appointed)
  • Experience with labour unions
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Able to travel occasionally
