Materials Buyer (FMCG or CPG environment)

SUMMARY:
Purchase goods, raw materials and/ or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.

POSITION INFO:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reporting to Procurement Manager
• Planning, preparing and placing orders for equipment, services, and supplies to meet the company’s scheduled production dates and to ensure material arrives within the required specified timelines.
• Daily monitoring and expediting of orders and
• Keeping the factory updated and informed regarding order delays
• Reviewing material requirements on a weekly and monthly basis
• Liaising with the Manufacturing Manager to ensure flawless production flow
• Ordering the best product or service within the cost parameters and at the best price after reviewing and analyzing all options
• Managing inventory levels to ensure working capital is managed
• General and adhoc assistance to the Procurement Manager where required

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCED REQUIRED:

• Grade 12
• Tertiary Certificate or Diploma in Purchasing
• Previous MRP (Syspro) experience will be advantageous
• 3-5 Years production buying experience, preferably in FMCG or CPG environment
• 3-5 Years knowledge and understanding of stock control processes and practices
• Excellent planning experience and skills
• Good IT skills and excellent Excel skills
