Mechanical Design Engineer

SUMMARY:
An armoured vehicle manufacturer is seeking a design engineer.

POSITION INFO:
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in armoured vehicle systems to join our dynamic engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support mechanical design activities for armoured vehicle platforms and subsystems.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and assembly documentation using software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or CREO.
• Perform design calculations and engineering analysis for structural integrity, ballistics protection, and mobility systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, systems, and manufacturing teams.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and validation of vehicle systems.
• Review supplier and subcontractor designs to ensure compliance with technical requirements.
• Ensure all designs meet applicable defence standards and customer specifications (e.g., STANAG, MIL-STD).
• Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle—from concept to full-rate production.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree (BSc/BEng) or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design within the defence, automotive, or heavy equipment sectors.
• Proven experience in the design of armoured vehicles, military vehicles, or similar complex systems.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and PLM systems.
• Knowledge of materials engineering, weldments, blast and ballistic protection systems.
• Familiarity with military standards, compliance, and certification processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
