JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is looking for a MECHANICAL DESIGNER to design, prepare product manufacture drawings, data packs and manage Product Data Management (PDM).

REQUIREMENTS

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent required.
• Mechanical Engineering B.Tech, B.Eng, BSc (Eng), Diploma (NQF 6) or equivalent Skills and Experience:
• 0 to 2+ years of work experience in mechanical draughting, design and development, experience in medical devices would be beneficial.
• Mechanic design & drawing practical skills and knowledge.
• Knowledge of strength of materials and sound engineering principles
• Advanced computer skills: CREO / Pro Engineer
• Advanced computer literacy (MS Office)

Engineering Design & Drawings & Data packs
• Conduct research and investigate alternative methods of design and manufacture of mechanical components (including electro-mechanical components) and assemblies to ensure a subsequent cost-effective design to meet all client requirements.
• Identifies clients’ needs to ensure that the designed product is aligned to client requirements. Provide effective client feedback together with Product Manager.
• Compile a complete Mechanical data pack for a particular product using the CREO design package.
• Compile and maintain BOMs.
• Responsible for build and qualification of revised or prototype components and assemblies.
• Adhere to internal standards and policies, quality standards / legislative requirements.
Product Data Management
• Maintain and update all Product and Configuration Management Policies and Procedures, e.g., document and data control procedures.
• Manage the design change process concerning Mechanical design. Once design changes have been approved ensure relevant parties make those changes and
implement them.
• Manage and issue drawings, documents, and data to Supply Chain and Production as required, ensuring effective version control is exercised and maintained. (When
implemented, design transfer and version control through PLM system)
• Ensure that the BOM in Web Accounting system is always updated with the latest approved and relevant product data.
• Audit of hardware against the current baseline (BOM)
