POSITION INFO:

We are looking for a career-orientated, high-achieving Mechanical Engineer to join a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team delivering building and infrastructure projects across commercial, industrial, and public sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Technical Execution:
- Design and oversee the installation of mechanical systems such as:
- HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)
- Fire protection systems
- Plumbing, pumping, and drainage systems
- Compressed air, gas reticulation, and mechanical plant systems
- Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications for mechanical components
- Ensure compliance with SANS standards, industry codes, and project requirements
- Project Engineering & Site Coordination:
- Supervise and inspect mechanical installations on construction sites
- Provide technical guidance to subcontractors and site teams
- Assist with project scheduling, procurement planning, and materials coordination
- Manage the commissioning and handover of systems, with supporting documentation
- Cost & Quality Control:
- Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors to evaluate mechanical BOQs, variations, and cost impacts
- Monitor and enforce quality assurance and quality control procedures
- Drive value engineering initiatives to improve efficiency without compromising performance
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Prepare method statements, O&M manuals, and technical reports
- Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance at all stages of the project
- Liaise with professional consultants, municipal officials, and statutory bodies
- Stakeholder & Team Collaboration:
- Work alongside Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, Architects, and Project Managers
- Provide real-time updates on progress, risks, and site conditions
- Maintain strong communication with clients, contractors, and suppliers
Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):- Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Mechanical Engineering
- 3–6 years relevant experience in building services and/or industrial mechanical systems
- Proficient in design tools (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, or similar)
- Strong working knowledge of SANS, ASHRAE, or other relevant building service codes
- Experience with design & build, fast-track, and multi-disciplinary projects
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
