Mechanical Engineer

SUMMARY:
An agriculture and agri-processing business, focusing on the complementary feedstocks of sugarcane and maize is looking for an articulate Mechanical Engineer to join their team.

POSITION INFO:

Main Purpose

The Mechanical Engineer will ensure optimum plant and equipment availability in accordance with short and long term production plans and priorities. Typical tasks include: feasibility studies and project investigation; facility planning and replacements; systems development and improvement of programs; equipment design and improvements drawing of up tenders and contracts; commissions of new equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assessing project requirements
• Measuring the performance of mechanical components, devices and engines
• Agreeing budgets, timescales and specifications with clients and managers
• Maintaining and modifying equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient
• Using computer-aided design/modelling software
• Liaising with suppliers
• Undertaking relevant research
• Producing and implementing designs and test procedures
• Presenting designs to managers and clients
• Testing, evaluating, modifying and re-testing products
• To ensure optimisation of operations within budgetary constraints, for improved maintenance and technical excellence
• Involvement in procurement, negotiations with outside parties, and quality control during manufacture and installation, acceptance testing and commissioning
• Providing engineering expertise to operations to ensure smooth and optimum performance of plant machinery and systems

Requirements

• Min of 4-6 years working experience
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Some experience in leadership development
• Experience in production process design and implementation 
• Experience in productivity and product quality optimisation
