Mechanical Project Engineer

SUMMARY:

An established international manufacturer of crop protection chemicals requires the above to ensure engineering HSE compliance for all project work, requirements of the CDM Regulations are met and that the PRA and MOC processes are followed by directing the engineering input to the Statutory Approval Processes, ensuring budgets are in place and required targets are met.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Knowledge of Engineering HSE compliance requirements and other relevant legislation are essential
• Previous experience in chemical or manufacturing industries will be required
• Previous experience in a Project Engineer role will be ideal
• Budgeting and cost management experience are important
• Must have experience in managing external contractors

• Ensuring compliance with mechanical standards and legislation relating to plant modifications and pressure systems, providing the support needed to the Plant Engineer.
• Working with Maintenance & Reliability Engineers within plant areas to help define scope and engineering definition for project activities.
• Ensuring project scopes meet plant and site requirements by preparing project plans, functional estimates and resource requirements.
• Defining detailed specification / design requirements for projects and controlling design resources to ensure that projects are delivered to suit plant /site needs.
• Leading the development of project scope to meet objectives of the business, so that the application of engineering technology helps achieve competitive advantage.
• Directing the translation of the scope into an engineering definition package, including sanction documentation and estimates to provide a basis for securing business and financial approval.
• Directing and controlling the multi-functional design team in order to engineer the defined package in line with the business and project targets.
• Working closely with construction and commissioning teams to ensure the constructability and operability of the design package and to ensure that the design intent is correctly interpreted.
• Monitoring and controlling project progress and initiating corrective action when appropriate to meet the projected time and quality targets.
