Our client in Saudi Arabia is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join their operations.

POSITION INFO:
Overall Job Purpose

• The Mechanical Technician is responsible for providing support in the maintenance of mechanical works and performs a wide range of duties relating to the hydraulic installation, repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment and fixtures to ensure their efficient operation at minimum downtime complying with EHS Guidelines with a focus on continuous improvement. 
• Executes preventive and predictive maintenance to optimize availability and reliability and quickly return under-performing equipment to design specification program (calibration, inspections, cleaning, and adjustment). 
• Housekeeping of all maintenance areas daily.

• Takes reasonable care for his health and safety in the workplace. He must also take reasonable care for the health and safety of others who may be affected by what he does. 
• Cooperates with EHS team about any action they take to comply with the EHS Act or Regulations. 
• Implements & reinforces EHS policy in the production area by words and actions. 
• Lead Technician works in the Plant and maybe exposed to chemical fumes, noise, rotating equipment, mobile equipment, humidity, etc.
• Ensures that the department EHS KPIs are fully complied with.

• Achieves the target for production tonnage

• Achieves the target availability of the plant.

• Achieves the target quality by maintaining the equipment. 
• Reduces the rejection rate by reducing the delays 
• Reduces the quality defects by maintaining the equipment.

• Wear PPEs as per Ma’aden HSES standard and follow safe work practices.
• Identifies and evaluates potential / existing safety problems, suggesting solutions and recommending suitable corrective measures
• Provides an open means by which subordinates / sub-contractors can communicate safety concerns, when possible action the items and when not ensure these are passed to personnel / sections for further actions.
• Actively participates in implementation of Ma’aden Safety Policy by example and communication to subordinates.
• Reports, investigates, and monitors near misses/incidents in area of control, conduct and participates in all activities relating removal of hazards in your work area.
• Assists with identification of hazards arising from activities in work area, ensuring that all are communicated to relevant personnel to maintain a hazard free work area.
• Follows the procedures and instructions related to EHS within the scope of the work area.

• Works with lead technician and reports to maintenance superintendent. 
• Provide Mechanical/Hydraulic cover 24/7 operational needs of the plant.
• Maintains a safe working environment throughout the unit ensuring that potential hazards to people, plant and the Environment are identified that adequate control measures are implemented through risk assessment and appropriate control measures ensuring that Company Safety Policy is fully implemented.
• Plans and organises major maintenance requirements in close liaison with the operations & engineering departments.
• Issues permits to work and LOTO-V method statements in accordance with Company safety procedures.
• Recommends and effects plant modifications for plant immobilisation procedures to ensure safe working practices, to improve plant availability, performance, and quality.
• Identifies business and safety critical spares for all operational plant. Manages stock levels of critical spares and repairs so that plant disruption minimised.
• Be the plant expert on Mechanical prime movers, drive & torque transmission systems, rotating/reciprocating equipment/components, Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems, Thermal systems, and Lubrication systems. Utilities- compressed air, DI water, hot water, chills water circulation systems, exhaust systems & trim conveying systems for CRU/HSM/TCM/Finishing /Auto Sheet.
• Investigates equipment failures using the latest techniques and initiate procedures to prevent reoccurrence.
• Updates eAM database to ensure secure historical data including work requests, completed work lists, preventative maintenance plans, budgetary control, plant availability & component failure rates. Promotes the use of systems across the department and ensure that personnel are adequately trained.
• Be aware of all Health and Safety statutory requirements and ensure compliance for all operational activities.
• Provides Engineering support to development and implementation programmes for quality, yield, and throughput to achieve business targets.
• Implements a preventative maintenance program utilising the latest condition monitoring technology and initiates remedial actions prior to failure
• Controls local engineering records to ensure that modifications are recorded
• Implements and adheres to the Departments Environmental Management system (ISO14001) current systems.
• Supports and utilises the various skills available including production and contractor personnel and identifies training and development needs of the team.
• Plans work and to order spares for remedial work to be carried out on future planned maintenance shifts.

• Diploma in Mechanical engineering with a comprehensive knowledge of the plant and processes.
• Served as a technical apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering.

• Has a proven experience of working in a medium sized maintenance engineering team.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of installation, troubleshooting & maintenance of  large mechanical drive & transmission equipment/components- gearbox, gears, shafts, couplings, clutches, brakes, chain drives, & belt drives, drag chains & torque limiters, springs & suspension systems.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of strip path rubber & chrome coated   driven & non driven rolls.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of alignment, levelling & balancing of rotating equipment/components. 
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of installation, maintenance & troubleshooting & alignment of cutters, shears, coating & trimming heads & trim conveying systems.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of strip, steering/guiding systems.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experienced of troubleshooting & rectification of roll chatter problems.
• A comprehensive knowledge & experience of installation, troubleshooting & maintenance of rotating/reciprocating   equipment - pumps, compressors, chillers & blowers etc.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of maintenance & troubleshooting of thermal systems -combustion, equipment/components, dryer oven, exhaust & treatment systems, heat exchangers & heat recovery systems.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of bearings and selection, mounting/dismounting of bearings/bearing housings.
• Selection, substitution & handling of lubricants, coolants & hydraulic fluids.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of piping networks, conduits, hoses, and P& I components. 
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of filtration &circulation systems and lubrication systems & sealing components. 
• A comprehensive Knowledge & hands of experience on installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of industrial hydraulic & pneumatic components & systems.
• A comprehensive knowledge & experience of effective implementation of PM, shutdown & TPM plans.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of pre-task planning of rigging/lifting operations & inspection of PPE & rigging equipment/components.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of formulation & implementation of effective machine guarding plans, LOTOV & engineering controls for safety.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of engineering materials, specification, selection, optimization & substitution.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of drafting technical specifications, procedures, work instructions & report writing.

• Ability & aptitude for training, mentoring & team building & gap identification.
• A comprehensive knowledge & hands on experience of implementing safe work culture. 
• A knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
• Knowledge of Company Safety, Health & Environmental requirements.
• Analytical problem-solving skills

• IT literate to handle software – MS Office products e.g. Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook.
