JOB SUMMARY:

An international agrochemical manufacturer is seeking an experienced Mechanical Field Technician to provide effective technical support services as well as seed crop production assistance at their production plant in Lutzville.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have completed a National Senior Certificate or equivalent
Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintaining and servicing Agricultural mechanical equipment as well as welding experience are essential
Must have basic vegetable seed crop and product knowledge
Basic operational knowledge of spraying equipment and seed cleaning equipment will be required
HSE orientated workshop skills would be advantageous

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Maintaining agricultural equipment such as threshers, planters, squash extractor, lettuce harvester, trailers etc.
Performing site maintenance functions.
Pre-cleaning seeds, sowing stock seeds and transplanting seedlings.
Managing plant health, which includes spraying of plants, rogue and cutting of flower heads.
Conducting plant health trials.
Assisting with harvesting.
Compiling representative seed samples from all batches.
Packaging of seeds.
Cleaning the production facilities.

Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience
