Location: Pretoria East, Pretoria Position Type: Full-Time | Permanent Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 Salary: Market-Related Industry: Healthcare | Paediatric Oncology About the Opportunity Medical Resources Group is recruiting on behalf of our client for a professional, compassionate and highly organised Oncology Receptionist to join a growing paediatric oncology practice in Pretoria East. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and their families and will play an important role in providing a welcoming, supportive and professional experience throughout their care journey. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working within a sensitive healthcare environment, has strong administrative and communication skills, and understands the importance of confidentiality, accuracy and compassionate patient care. Key Responsibilities Reception & Patient Administration Welcome and assist patients, families and visitors in a professional and compassionate manner. Manage incoming telephone calls and provide accurate and professional assistance. Schedule, confirm and manage appointments with oncology specialists. Maintain an accurate electronic appointment diary. Assist with patient enquiries and direct queries to the appropriate healthcare professional or team member. Ensure patient information and appointment details are accurately captured and updated. Maintain a professional, neat and organised reception environment.  Oncology Administration Maintain accurate and confidential electronic patient records. Capture and update patient information, medical history and relevant administrative details. Assist with administrative processes relating to oncology patients. Assist with cancer treatment plan authorisations and the preparation of supporting documentation. Assist with chemotherapy ordering and related administrative coordination. Coordinate communication between the oncologist, patients, families, medical team and other relevant parties. Follow up on outstanding documentation, authorisations and administrative requirements where necessary. Handle sensitive patient and family interactions with empathy, professionalism and discretion.  Medical Billing Accurately capture and upload relevant medical service codes. Liaise with the medical bureau to facilitate accurate and efficient billing processes. Assist with medical aid and billing-related queries as required. Use Vericlaim medical billing system for the accurate processing and management of billing information. Ensure all patient and billing information is captured accurately and timeously. Assist with resolving billing queries and obtaining required information or supporting documentation.  General Administration Accurately capture and upload relevant medical service codes. Liaise with the medical bureau to facilitate accurate and efficient billing processes. Assist with medical aid and billing-related queries as required. Use the Vericlaim medical billing system for the accurate processing and management of billing information. Ensure all patient and billing information is captured accurately and timeously. Minimum Requirements Matric \/ Grade 12. Previous experience in a medical reception, medical administration or similar healthcare environment. Relevant administrative experience relating to oncology patients is essential. Experience using the Vericlaim medical billing system is essential. Sound knowledge of medical terminology, particularly oncology-related terminology. Experience with patient scheduling and appointment management. Knowledge of cancer treatment plan authorisations will be advantageous. Experience or exposure to chemotherapy ordering and related administrative processes will be advantageous. Strong computer literacy and administrative skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional telephone etiquette. Ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion and professionalism.
